tonight was the big night. the pinewood derby. we had our two cars ready and there after the ridiculous meeting last week where we did the weighing and aligning etc. so first off Jack won. then Jack lost. then Jack won again. then he lost. then we noticed Jack was in third place. then we noticed Jared had not raced at all. somehow they left him off the brackets. oops. so the race continued. at the first finish Jack was third. then Jared and another kid who was not in the bracket went and they were faster than all the winners. so back to top six. which had both the boys in the races. jack won. Jared lost. Jack and Jared raced each other. Jack won. Jared sad. ;( jack it second place for tiger cubs and gets to go to distrcits in two weeks and got a trophy. Jared is sad. very fun and suspenseful night.

this leads to my problem with all sports etc giving kids trophies. it has became almost expected and it is hard to explain why not everyone wins. yet we know everyone wants to. it reminds me of one of my favorte Disney movie quotes, something along the lines of we keep finding ways to celebrate mediocrity. but anyway here is a picture of Jared and his friend Jensens car racing each other after the official races were done.
